Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Initiative

The Rhode Island Academy of Family Physicians (RIAFP) is proud to partner with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) on a national initiative supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This four-year project, “Building Partnerships and Equipping Family Physicians to Address Prenatal Alcohol and Other Substance Use and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs),” focuses on strengthening the role of family physicians in prevention, early identification, and care.

Through this collaboration, RIAFP is helping to share resources and educational opportunities that support physicians in addressing prenatal alcohol and substance use, improving recognition and management of FASDs, and enhancing care and support for affected individuals and families across Rhode Island.
